I have been reading that several new car lines use oil extractors to remove the motor oil. Anyone have any experience with this method of oil change? They sell for $60-$80 bucks. Thanks for input!
The oil extractor usually work pretty well. I have used both the pump version and the air powered version. I can tell you that the air powered ones work a lot better (faster). The pump version can tire your arm out fairly quickly. Either way you go, make sure the oil is warm. Trying to suck out cold oil with one of those things can be a long process. Overall, they work well. It is currently the approved way of removing oil for Mercedes. Good luck!!

Purchased one for changing oil in my wifes previous ride, ML350. I had a pump version. Let me just warn you... Never accidentally reverse the flow on the thing in your garage while it's under pressure. Stupid tubing blew apart and it looked like an out of control fire hose spraying oil for about 10 seconds. You can imagine the mess.
I like to climb underneath the vette and haven't used it since we sold the Benz.
I use one on my IO Mercury boat engine. I'd have to think that you might be leaving a bit of old oil behind, as opposed to draining it via the drain bolt? I wouldn't feel comfortable using that method to get the oil outta' the C6?!
YMMV

I'm trying use this on a C5 but having problems and just sucking air.
Is there anything specific about C5/C6 that won't allow it? I'm using mityvac 7201.
In regards to using extractor and the comments. I'm not sure who all is getting sludge, but I have none in my motor with Mobil 1. That plus the fact that I change my oil frequently so even old oil is not really old oil its still good. It's been going on for decades in boats. My unit leaves a few oz if that in my ZR-1 and LT-1. So a few oz of mobil 1 that has say 3,000-5,000 miles on it is going be a problem with fresh Mobil 1 extended oil? Give me a break, Mobil 1 says it can go 15,000 miles.
I tried one on my 06 and I never could get the hose to go all the way into the pan. I tried all sorts of sizes of hose with no luck. It appears that something is blocking the hose just before going into the pan.

That is exactly the problem I'm having??? It's odd
I used one for years on my boat and MBZ and it worked fine. The problem with the C6 is you still need to climb under to change the filter. You might as well do the oil while there.
