This is for only the smartest tech guys... I've got an 05 that was a theft recovery. I'm nearing completion of the rebuild. I had no key fobs much like most everything else. Here's the problem: I power up the car and it's in accessory mode. It won't shut off because there's "no fob present". I can't program the new fob b/c the car won't turn off. By the way, I've already tried letting it sit for awhile to see if it would shut down on it's own like it's supposed to and it didn't. Anybody got any ideas?
I'm rebuilding a theft recovery car. It's never had a battery until now and no matter what technique I use to connect/disconnect the power, the result is the same. Anybody else?
I thought it would say no fob found, stay on or turn off? (something like that) then it automatically turns off? I've never heard of it staying ON if the fob isn't detected.. that seems backwards.
I think your going to have to get your hands on a Tech2, and reprogram the fobs using the tech2. I watched my dealer do it when they replaced the RCLDR for the "FOB not Recognized" problem early 08's had.
Well I know I'm gonna have to get the NAV radio programmed since the theftlock has already been activated but I didn't want to do it at this stage of the rebuild. Surely there must be a way around this. Any other ideas?

Hey David, I have been thinking about your problem. I am also surprised that ShopDog or GMAUTOTECH hasn't jumped in here yet. They are generally the men with these weird problems.
Anyway I may have related my difficulties too you a few weeks ago with all my strange maladies.
I had a lot difficulty with several systems but my main concern at the time was getting the drivers door window up to close up the car from the elements. Other problems were fobs not being detected, car coming on by itself for no reason and NO FOB being anywhere near the car, windows not going up or indexing, seats acting funny, etc....
When I changed a broke drivers door latch the drivers window went right up. Something in the "System" apparently. I knew I had to change my BCM and when I did replace it most of the other "problems" I was having mysteriously went away. It pretty much cured everything except the cranking/starting issue which turned out to be a wiring harness issue.
So I guess what I am saying to look at is make sure all systems in the car are hooked up and at least functioning somewhat properly. IF you have onStar make sure the receiver is plugged in, RCDLR is working and all the fuses in the BCM and underhood fuse block is good. Try different things with the doors closed as opposed to open.
The Corvette has some weird gremlins when the system are out of whack.
With the theft recovery what did you have to do to the car to bring it back whole. Anything stolen; computers, radio, etc...?
You have to do a complete reprograming of the fobs, but you need the rear hatch key. If you can get thekey, you can pogram your fobs.
Actually, I found a way to get around needing the key to get into programming mode. GM makes you jump through hoops to get a new key and I don't usually buy them until the car is finished.
And thanks Robert. You're exactly right about needing everything attached. I didn't know if it would matter whether some things are connected or not but it must make a difference. I will get further along on the car and try it again.
Robert, I will message you and let you know my results so you can avoid the same situation down the road. Thanks again to all who have offered some help.
