Default Do Bilstein S's lower or raise

Looks like I bought some Bilstein Sports for my Z51 05 c6.

To those who have them, did the car come down or go up after instalation?
Tried a search with no answers.

Curious, car sits on top of the tires now.
Thanx in advance.

True, but many with Koni FSD's report that the car is lowered by the shock change so it has some effect.

If the shock shaft is shorter then it could change. With that being said the correct shock for the car should not lower it.

The only other thing on this subject is taking into account that GM did not design the car to be held up by the shocks, what i mean is the shock towers, are made to hold the shock. also after just changing my shocks to Z06 i had to collapse them to take them off without taking off the lower a arm and i can tell you they may hold up 50lb of weight towards lifting the car, this is just a guess being that i could collapse the shock with my hands. The factory springs are holding the car from the lower a arms.

News flash - gas pressure shocks ARE SPRINGS (both O.E.M. and Bilstein).

The spring constant of new Bilstein Sports is slightly less than new Z51 shocks (less internal pressure) and your car will sit slightly lower (0.125 to 0.250 inch or so). The change in sag height has nothing to do with the length of the shaft.

Not much change with new base shocks.

QUOTE

"Specifically calibrated for high performance Corvette applications, Bilstein high-pressure gas shock absorbers offer all the advantages of a gas shock, plus construction and performance features that are incomparable. Guaranteed not to fade, the Bilstein shocks are 20 % stiffer than original equipment shocks for true high performance and racing applications. Bilstein shocks feature a seamless, mono-tube construction for fast heat dissipation and finely machined components to yield the most sensitive valving available today. Bilstein shocks may increase the ride height of the car approximately one-half inch if the car has settled due to worn suspension components.".

A tidbit from an AD I read on the shocks.........newer cars without worn components may not change much....I will post my results after I change my stockers to the Bilstein Sports next week.

Thanx for your replies guys.

cheers.
