Hey guys just failed emissions in Ct on my '05 vette with only 2975 miles on it. No work has been done to it. The guy at the emissions told me that there were sensors not being read by the computer and that I needed to drive the car more to activate them, he called it a drive cycle. anybody else encounter this? I had the computer updated because of the DBS and gas gauge issue about 300 miles ago. could that have caused it to fail? Any suggestions??!!
Yup...A readiness drive cycle is a very specific combination of conditions and parameters that must be met before systems record a readiness code. It can be forced but the Procedure is insanely complicated (been posted here before). Best bet is to put some more miles on the car using different speeds, shift points, etc so the readiness items can be checked off by the ECU. Most states will pass you with up to one Readiness code not cleared.
I had the same thing on my 96 Cobra. I dont drive it in the winter and it basically sits with the battery disconnected and on a trickle charger. I went to have my emissions done and it failed because not all the systems were read ready. I drove it for a week, went back and passed.

It sounds like all of the above post will clear the problem but if it doesn't remember you have an 80,000 mile federal mandated warranty on all emissions related parts and labor. Check your warranty manual for the parts list.
I had this happen last year before I sold my C5 due to having the battery disconected before I went to the test site. I drove around for about 20 min. and went back and passed with a good score. You will be fine I am sure as well especially given the milage you state.
I know on my other car it had certain requirements that dictated a certain amount of miles at highway speeds, stop and go driving etc. California weather is nice but this is the most retarded state for almost everything.

Yup. Its most likely his "Evaporative System" not ready and takes 50 to 200 miles of driving to clear. Also, if you are into tuning your car, everytime you re-flash it sets off the Evap "not ready" too. Sounds like the OP had his ecm re-flashed by the dealer.
