I'm working on an 05 convertible. It was a theft recovery and I had to replace engine computer, body control module, nav radio and a few other modules. I can't seem to get it into programming mode to learn a new key fob. Does the car need to be flashed to synch everything up before programming?

Yep, you're going to have to set up a visit with a Tech II first. I would recommend removing the fuse to the HVAC controls when you do this. When I had my modules programmed, somehow the HVAC module got fried. The buddy of mine that was doing the programming said that it happens from time to time.

When the HVAC modules lock up after programming removing power from the HVAC module for 1 minute will reset it.

It didn't work on mine. I had it out of the car for several hours and tried connecting it one last time before replacing it. It was completely dead, no display, nothing.
On a positive note, I found one on eBay that had the face all scratched up because they removed it from an automatic car that they couldn't get out of park. They are like $400 new and I got it for $20 and then just swapped the faces.

Wow, that's rare but it can happen. Good deal with the replacement.
