I replaced the original battery after 30,000 miles, with an Optima yellow top...now , after 6 months I'm starting to have problems again...could it be the battery again? I'm careful that no lights are on and that the car is in reverse ...am I doing something wrong?....It's hard to believe that I need a new batter already....is there anything else I can check on that might be draining the battery....this is starting(no pun) to be a real pain
Make sure it's received the BCM reflash to eliminate DBS. Your dealer should be able to check the car's warranty work and see if it was done.
One way to ensure you don't get DBS in the meantime, is to shut the car off in reverse as usual. Then shift to neutral and just make sure the DIC doesn't give you the 'shift to reverse' warning. If it doesn't then you can exit the car, and it makes no difference electronically what gear you then leave it in.
