Bilstein Sport Shocks
Hi, does anyone know if the Bilstein Sport shocks available from LG are the same as those available from other vendors, like Tire Rack, or does LG have them custom valved? I know LG does offer custom valved shocks for the C5/C6, but are these anything other than just your regular Bilsteins?
i always thought the sports were for lowerd cars according to there website, i got the HD's because my ride hieight is stock. its a very nice ride, very predictable, let me know how the sports feel!

They are not "exclusively for" lowered cars, they are "recommended for" lowered cars - not to say they aren't recommended for our stock height corvettes (we're already pretty low). They aren't going to change the height much, that's more dependent on the coils you're running.
High pressure gas monotube design. 360psi to prevent aeration and shock fade. Sports usually (but not always) have a stiffer performance valving than the Heavy Duty units, and are recommended for vehicles with a lowered / performance suspension-springs installed. On shock applications, they can usually be used on stock height cars and trucks as well. These are great for performance, handling, and stability. (They are only available for a few specific vehicles).
Shocks (or Struts) do not really hold up a vehicle. For example, if you ever took shocks off your pickup-truck or RWD car before, you know when you set it down off the jack, it sits pretty much the same as it did before you took the shock off. What "holds" the vehicle up is the coil springs, leaf springs, or in some cases, a torsion bar.
There are shocks which can help, or add additional support, such as Monroe Load-levelers or Monroe Air-shocks. But no shock (outside of some kind of racing unit) is really designed to support a 3000-5000 lb. vehicle. There is a limit to how much a shock can help (for instance, just changing shocks on a half-ton pickup truck will not automatically make it a one-ton model.)
The primary uses of these type products is to keep the rear of the vehicle level with the front, so you have a more balanced suspension while driving or towing.
(On strut installations, it is important you get the springs seated correctly, or that can effect installation, and may effect height. Follow your repair manual's instructions carefully, every vehicle is different).

Sam I installed the HD bilsteins $299 shipped from E-bay. They are a major improvement over the factory Z-51's. You need to get the H/D ones, wait till my build is ready, I will drive to you and take you for a test spin..Don't rush it yet..
Sports are valved a little harder, particularly on rebound. Ultimately, they offer a bit better control on smooth roads at the cost of a slightly harsher ride. Personally, I fell back to HDs (a bit more comfortable and still more performance than I can use on public roads). Either are good choices and world's better than stock Z51 or Z06 shocks.

Want to control wheel hop? I have added extra HP over the winter and need to limit it as much as possible.

Done. $332 shipped is what it worked out to from shockswarehouse.
Look forward to my comprehensive review of these shocks along with a C6Z06 rear swaybar once I get it all in.
