Depending on how high the water got it could be totalled. Happened to a friend of mine with a Hummer.

Since it was fresh water and it never got very high on the car, I don't think you will have related trouble down the road. If it was salt water, you could have corrosion issues that may come back to haunt you. I have an 05 vert that was a Katrina car. It was completely submerged for several days in salt water. I spent a lot of time cleaning connections and replacing modules and, as of yet, I have not had any electrical problems. (I probably shouldn't have said that. It'll probably quit on me tomorrow.)

I buy flood damaged vehicles from the auction all the time. The only problems I've ever had is if the owner tried to start the car with water in the block, destroys all the valves. Just make sure the dealer changes ALL the fluids, even the ones that they say are sealed for life. Make sure all connections are unplugged and cleaned then replugged using electrical dilectric grease. Best course would be to get it totaled out and buy it back from the insurance company for cheap keeping your clear title. JMO

Since your dealership is going to do "A better than new " job for you. I'm sure they would love to make another sale and give you a great deal on trading in yours for a new one with little strain to the Pocket Book. Sorry to hear that the reason is a flood but they NEED to sell cars right now and this could be a positive opportunity. Besides, not sure of the deal you had with them but supporting vendors are selling LT1's at $40990 with out even trying to haggle them??????

Take it easy and see what happens. It's your fault the car went under water. If they chose to fix it. Let them. The dealership would like to fix the car because it brings income to the shop. But as far as it being as good as new. Well I doubt it. The fight is with your ins. company they decide whether it's totalled or not............

My problems took a while to surface but once they did it was one electrical thing after another. The water was approximately just below the dash. While the dealership did take everything that was wet out of the car, I doubt that they took the time to hand dry all the electrical connections. Once the car dried out everything worked, it took time for corrosion to develop but it eventually got to quite a few connections. It got to the electric seat motors and switches and then nailed connections and etc.

In any event I hope this works out for you. If I had it to do over I would have hand dried and taken apart all the electrical items in the car that were damaged by water. Good luck!
