I dropped my car off to have the cam installed and while they were doing the swap they noticed a pin cam out of the tensioner and bent one of the teeth on the gear. I haven't seen it yet myself, but wanted you guys to know because there have been several LS3 threads about timing chain failures... I'm so glad that I decided to do the swap when I did because I was about to have a major failure...
It's an A6..... (most of the other issues I've seen have been on the manual cars).
I don't know the build date... Any way to find out by the vin?
I'm pretty sure you can get the date along with the service history from the vin # I'm pretty sure one of the guys that lost a timing chain the assumption was a pin had started to pull out..

From: NJ..."the way I saw it, everyone takes a beating sometimes."
Hmm. So this is was almost an issue on a stock car? No cam or UD pulley? This may be a new clue in the TC epidemic. Please pass along anymore info you may get.
I can't believe that Spin and company continually defend these things. . .
You know, I have been on these forums for awhile. There is just about nobody who knows all and everything, despite some who may come across as knowing it all.
I have only seen three members, whom I refer to as "The Three Wise Men" who have been near perfect error free when discussing issues or whatever concering the C6. GMAutoTech, ShopDog and Talon90.
I'm now convinced that an aftermarket pulley swap needs a tensioner swap (to an LS2)... I think it's the combo of the smaller pulley with the new spring LS3 tensioner...
Some people thought it was an ASP issue as well (throw that theory out the window)
