Default Tune

I am new to the computer controlled engines. In my time, performance was 10 to 1 pistons, a dual-plane intake, 3/4 cam, headers, and a duel point distributor. Yeah I have been out of it for awhile. But now I am back with a C6, LS2, 6 speed manual. I read here that a cold air intake, 160F thermostat and a tune would give me a little more motivation. What is a "tune" ?

optimized engine management....Pcm tuning in your case will dial in timing, fueling, fan speed and almost all other Engine function.. Cars in stock trim are targeting economy and federal emissions guidelines, not HP. Tuning in most instances targets HP and optimizes all around performance. Find a reputable local tuner or there are tons of awesome vendors who tune on this site

A good tuner can unlock almost 30 hidden hp on your stock motor. Almost everything can be controlled from you pcm/ecm from timing to idle right down to when the fan turns on and off. I had mind tuned when bone stock and picked up 26rwhp. Get it tuned and see what youve been missing.

Wonderful,
Does anyone have a trusted "Tuner" in the Savannah, Ga. area to recommend?

So now you have 10.9:1 compression ratio, a coil per spark plug, and fully electronic engine controls. You've come a long way...If you are going to get a tune, and possibly void your warranty, (if any), I would wait and get a set of headers to go with the tune. That will really wake up the beast in the LS2...Congratulations on the vette and welcome to the perma-grin society..

Give Chuck CoW a call, he will answer any questions you have about tuning, and probably tell you more than you ever wanted to know about it

You won't be disappointed and you have nothing to lose, it's just a phone call

His number is 914-332-0049
