I'm sick and tired of not being able to change the navi address etc while in motion. Yes, I know there is a mod to add a switch to temporarily disable the unit to be able to input an address, and then flip the switch again to continue navigation. However, I believe there has to be something much simpler/less obtrusive!
I've been reading about the Lockpick 360(Http://www.coastaletech.com/corvettelockpicks.htm), and after a search on here I've read mostly good things about it. My problem is that I don't want a backup camera, ipod input, etc. All I want it to be able to play with my navi as I'm driving. If the Lockpick 360 can do this with a wireharness, I don't see why there isn't a much simpler product to do just this.
Is anyone familiar with the Lockpick and how it works to enable you to play with the navi while driving? It seems like it connect to your XM box - can't we make a simple harness to interface to this to enable playing the navi while moving without all the extras (AV input, audio, etc)? I don't need to spend $300 for something I won't use, and I don't feel like adding another switch in the cockpit
There is probably a signal to the navi to indicate whether the car is in motion or not. Probably jumpering the correct pins in the back of the connector will fake it to think its always stopped. Just need somebody with the pin definitions.
The 360 is pretty cool. I didn't think the navi screen had enough resolution for video but I guess it does.
I have done this mod. It works but it's still not a solution. There is limited time to enter any information and then the secondary lockout system takes place. The switch bypasses the VSS sensor, however the system also gets info that the car is moving from the GPS.
I'm sure that someone somewhere has the software code to bypass this, I had one in my 2000 STS and entered it once and I could do anything I wanted with the GPS. The lockpick, doesn't look like a solution either. Unless I read it wrong, it's only the secondary video input that's unlocked, not the GPS.
The Lockpick 360 does allow you to press a button on its remote to allow you to enter addresses into the NAV while moving. I am not sure if it does similiar to what kawal's switch does as well as blocks the gps signal too or how exactly it does it. But unless there is a way to unlock the safety feature I do not see away to get away from having to use some type of switch. The Lockpick 360 is basically a more refined Kawal switch.

It might not be any more refined it it has limited time action like the Kawal method. I gave up on the Nav and bought myself a Garmin Nuvi. Now I can really edit it on the fly.
That is very cool, I just wonder if it is restricted to the 30 secs or however long the time period is before it locks again like the regular switch you can put in yourself.

Not sure, but give them a call and find out. I am about a month out from buying one myself. I've got other mods to purchase/install first.
I'm sick and tired of not being able to change the navi address etc while in motion:
I guess I get to be the first to say it. I drive in Houston traffic almost daily, and I get sick and tired of people who are too busy screwing with their phone or other stuff in the car and are constantly drifting out of their lane.
In the past two weeks, I've watched two people run redlights that had been red for quite a while - they didn't even slow down. I'm doubly upset by it because I put about 17,000 miles a year on my motorcycle.

The Garmin costs about the same as the lockpick and you can swap it to other vehicles or carry it in your pocket. My 760 model is even bluetooth capable.

It is time restricted just like the Kawal method. Though he said he is working on hacking through that restriction. Here is more discussion on that:

I hear what you're saying as I ride too.
However, it's very inconvenient when driving and if I have a passenger and we want to enter a different address I have to pullover, etc.
WHat has not been answered still is the fact that the Lockpick 360 plugs into the XM Tuner, and is still able to bypass the no input while in motion. How does it accomplish this?
I'm not interested in adding a harness with a switch to do this as in the kawai method.
