Default Does CAI require a tune or not?

There does not seem to be a definative answer on this topic? Will the fuel and air sensors calibrate themselfs if I install a CAI or will I need to do some reprogramming? What codes if any will be generated? I want to put a CAI on but dont want any trouble.....

The CAI will give you a few extra ponies, but should not require a tune.

Most all PCM computers (read any brand vehicle) have the ability to compensate for changes in engine operating conditions that effect emissions and will bring the CLOSED LOOP AFR back to 14.7:1. The thing to watch out for is,,,,,,they can only compensate up to a certain point and then the PCM maxes out and it runs rich or lean. GM PCMs will work properly and are able to correct LTFT up to 25% + or -.

When you go into WOT, the PCM comes out of closed loop, the PCM AFR operates off the PE Table and thats when your going to see your engine going real rich or lean. Its a set value and the PCM can not compensate to obtain the optimum AFR. It has to be changed using tuning software.

If you install some bolt on that your wondering how it effects your vehicle, just find a C6 buddy with EFI Live or HP Tuners that can data log your PCM. You will be able to see LTFT, Knock Retard, O2 sensor data etc...... and figure out if you need a tune or not. Thats a simplified explanation but, it will help you understand what you up against.

After about 100 miles from installing my VaraRam, I checked things with my Predator; I was disappointed that I didn't have to make any changes.....so, you should be good to go after the computer "re-calibrates" itself.
