Is there anyway to work around setting the parking brake in order to put the soft top up or down?
I got caught in rush hour traffic last week (0-10mph) and had to fight 2-lanes of traffic either side in order to get on the shoulder so that I could set the parking brake to put the top back up.
I suppose I could have just pissed everybody off and held up traffic.
I suppose next you will want GM to stand behind the top that just got ripped off in the 30 mph wind.
Unlike some in the world I bet he might have some common sense.I don't think his question was "Hey if I was an idiot and my top got ripped off is that warranty?" Maybe you should read the question a little closer before you answer.
I don't know if it can be done since I'm sure it's a safety fail safe mechanism.
On another note, I haven't read a single post in almost three years of any coupe owner who just "put their top on" and forgot to latch it saying, "This should be a free one since GM screwed up." And there have been quite a few brave souls who've come on C6 and said, "I can't believe I did it---flying roof---all my fault."
Just lift the e-brake leaver up one click. The car thinks it's on but the brake isn't applied. I do it all the time. Be careful not to be going too fast though.
The only reason I asked was because my last car was a 2004 BMW Z4 and I didn't have this problem...the owners manual said it would work up to 20mpg, but because I'm NOT an idiot I cannot confirm that. I did however occasionally roll through a stop light if it changed before the top was locked back down.
The only difference might be that my Z4 was an automatic and my LS3 is a 6M??

Perfect! Thanks for the info...so much better to have the top down, especially this time of year
