Two days with the car and I've already got the active handling message. Off to the dealer with TSB in hand. Not a real confidence builder after 48 hours!

The Chevy Customer service Rep reported on this thread that GM has announced a recall associated with this issue, though I have yet to see any official info about it.

I don't see any recall information there about the SAH issues yet.
However, there is going to be RECALL for painted TOPS that are delaminating and flying off. My 2006 Z06 had the initial foam done and then it delaminated and flew off on the 101 in Southern Cal by LA. LUCKILY no one was hurt...this is a different topic, I know, but please check your top because when I saw mine flew off at 75MPH+ it could have literally killed someone.

Click the above link for more detailed info on the actual investigation and resolution.
Summary:
GM IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005 AND 2006 CHEVROLET
CORVETTE PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN MARCH 2004 AND
JANUARY 2006 EQUIPPED WITH A TILT AND TELESCOPING STEERING

STEERING COLUMN MAY CAUSE A SIGNAL INTERRUPTION WITHIN THE
COLUMN. IF THIS OCCURS, THE MESSAGE, "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING

MORE OF THE BRAKES MAY APPLY, POSSIBLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO
PULL TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT.
Consequence:
IF THE DRIVER DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE CHANGE IN VEHICLE
MOVEMENT, A CRASH COULD OCCUR.
Remedy:
GM WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLES FREE
OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT
APRIL 30, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438 AND
GMC AT 1-866-996-9463 OR AT THE OWNER CENTER AT
WWW.GMOWNERCENTER.COM.

This recall was the subject of an Engineering Analysis, EA09-002, conducted by the
Office of Defects Investigation.
The information in your defect noncompliance report appears to satisfy the requirements
of 49 CFR 573.6.
We have reviewed your proposed owner letter and it meets the requirements of 49 CFR

that relate to this recall, including a copy of the final owner notification letter and any
subsequent owner follow-up notification letter(s), are required to be submitted to this
office no later than 5 days after they are originally sent (if they are sent to more than one

As stated in Part 573.7, submission of the first of six consecutive quarterly status reports
is required within one month after the close of the calendar quarter in which notification

Mine's not telescoping either, so if I'd really had this EXACT problem, I'd be screwed too, I guess.
Mine turned out to be the BCM, quick fix and no problems since. I guess I got lucky compared to some of you folks.

They recalled '05 and '06 models only...? I have an '07 and I have this issue. I suppose us '07 owners don't matter. We can all be for all they care.

I just took 2006 C6 Z06 in for a oil change and tire pressure sensor reset. I showed them the NHTSB recall and asked them to do it if it is different than the 2nd TSB. They said they would look into it and get back to me. I will post what I find out and what the actual fix is.

Update. The GM dealer checked and there was nothing in THEIR system yet. I was informed when the recall goes out, owners will receive a letter in the mail recalling their vehicle (per vin number). So nothing yet.

Mine is an '08Z that doesn't look like it is covered by this recall. I have had this happen twice, both times the passenger front brake came on hard and fast, then let go folowed by the "service traction control/active handling".
What to do?
What to do?

This has started to happen to me just driving at about 5mph around my community. Make a right turn and there is a stutter....
I am going to go to the dealership and see how legit that document link above is...

I have a 2009 with about 1,000 miles on it. I had the tilt wheel configured so that when I exit it retracts. Drove it a while; parked and turned it off. When I started it again I received all 3 messges about servicing abs, traction control and active handling. Car drove kind of funny. Turned it off and on and it went away.
I fell over this thread doing a google search.
I am posting my experience here because it does not appear to only be an issue with 2005-2006.
EDIT: I submitted an offical complaint to NHTSA today via the following link:

Just got my recall notice today (#10118) for some 2005 models. It has the number 1800-630-2438 for concerns about this recall.
Details include
Why
Repeated movement of steering column may result in signal interupption causing SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING on DIC. One or more of the brakes may apply possibly causing vehicle to pull to left or right. If driver does not respond to movement a crash could occur
What will they do
inspect wire connection in column and if necessary install a clip to secure the connection. Work done at no charge and will take approximately 20 mins
If you already paid for the repair you may request reimbursement and still need to take the car in for inspection.

I've never had the DIC warning show up.
I had to call the dealer several times before they even admitted there was a recall and then another call to ensure that my car was affected by the recall and scheduled for the work. It took very little time to actually do the work.
I did had the recall work done to it before I ever got a letter from GM. So far so good.
