Have an 07 A6 and while idling in park at 500-600 rpm, if I rev the engine gradually to 2000 rpm, no problems but if I abruptly rev the engine from 500 or so rpm, the engine cuts out like its about to stall (about 1/2 second) and then the engine revs are normal to 2000 rpm. Has anyone else experienced this?
Doing this once the engine is warmed up or cold? Its a hesitiation in the tuning if its doing it when warm otherwise its a lean condition doing it when its cold. If you have a diablo predator you can raise the idle slightly to remove it.
Do you have a cam or anything like that? It has to do with the fuel and final air flow. I dont know all the specifics like my tuner does but you can adjust it to where it does not happen at all.

The sudden influx of air from punching the throttle causes the PCM to think it's about to get knock so it pulls all kinds of timing which results in the cutting out you're experiencing.
