Default Hatch power close question

I'm in the process of finishing a complete overhaul of the audio and installation of sound deadening. I just hooked the battery back up and indexed the windows, but the "power closing" feature on the hatch is not currently working. Is there anything I should be on the lookout for (places to start) to figure out why this is so.

I don't know if it matters, but I have yet to hook up the door panels with all of the controls and the guage cluster. The only electrical part currently hooked up is the starter button.

Thanks!

I would first check to see if the release button by the license plate is not stuck IN. A lot of them go bad from dirt and stuff and if it gets stuck, the auto latch will not work....

Thanks for the info. I checked, and the release button is still good. It closes perfectly, it's just that the power grab doesn't engage to completely seal it. As such, I'm not comfortable putting it back on the road or washing it.

Any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure windows are closed. Makes a difference.

I don't think the windows being open or closed would make any difference. My windows are open when I take my top off and the hatch closes just fine after I stow the top.
