I just received my mgw shifter today and had a quick question. It comes with a silicone gasket and RTV. It says to use one or the other but I was wondering what would be the best to use. The silicone would obviously be easier but it seems like the RTV would form a better gasket.
I used the silicone gasket too. No vibrations noted. I will tell you that I may have trimmed off too much of the black rubber seal to make the shifter fit, as I now have more cabin noise.
When I installed mine, I just kept looking at my WWGD (What would George Do) bracelet and followed his instructions implicitly. I've had no issues or rattles. I showed the pictures of the process to a friend and he couldn't believe I had the skills or courage to open up the guts of my car like I did to do the install.
