Got my mgw shifter, yesterday, removed the old shifter and installed the mgw in about an hour. The instructions were well written and the kit has everything needed. I was very impressed. I have taken the car out twice and the difference from the stock shifter is unbelievable. Just feels so precise going from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd which with the stock shifter seemed very vague. When it stops raining here i will head to Norwalk and see if it solved my missing 3rd at the drag strip problem. Kudos to George for a well made product.
i havent installed my MGW yet.. how does the "off to the side" upper part stay on under agressive shifting? How hard did you torque it on there to
?
It's just a small allen head set screw, so i was careful not to over tighten it. Seems to be fine, i just used an allen wrench and tightened it down, the shifter seems to be an awesome piece.

So far so good. I just tighten it down hand tight with the tools provide.I have made plenty of hard first to second and very hard 2nd to 3rd and it has not moved in 3 months. The 2nd to 3rd shift is so esay you can't miss. Love this shifter, though my wife hates it. Good for me.
I have had my MGW since my 08 had 100 miles on it! I just love this shifter.
I believe my 08 had 1000 miles on it when I changed..Friend had Hurst on his 03 Z, then drove my car. Ordered the MGW the next day. George makes an excellent product..
Make sure you tighten down the **** adapter using the supplied allen wrench well. I had mine come off suddenly while driving about a month after the last time I'd had it apart.
The "C5" **** adapter has two screws to tighten, and make sure you do so. I found I hadn't snugged them down both well, and with thermal expension, eventually it loosened up enough to pop off.
Hell,I thought and think the c6 08 shifter is light years better then the one in the C5 I had and also better then the 05 I had.Is the MGW that different??

The 2008 shifter is light years ahead of a C5 shifter, but there is always room for improvement. The MGW will provide shorter throw, and a more positive gear selection.
I really like the MGW in my 08 Z51, but hated it in my SVT Cobra. I ended up going with a Pro 5.0 in the Mustang, which is one of the best shifters I've ever come across. The 5.0 doesn't simply center the shifter, it has a very unique approach to getting from second to third (patented design).
The MGW for the Vette also has a better build quality as compared to the T56 model.
Enjoy the shifter, and remember to use the heel of the hand to push the handle from second to third (no thumb involved).
I have been eyeing this mod for some time. Shifters are very important pieces of the puzzle........ is there anyone near metro Atlanta that I could meet and try this thing out?
I have an 09 that shifts pretty darn good, and I came out of a Honda S2000, that many claim has THE best shifter. I too would like to try one 1st before buying

I too came from an S2000 and while I do not have the MGW, I have the Hurst and it is much better than stock. My understanding from those that have tried them all, MGW is as good as it gets offering the same aggressive feel of the Hurst without any of the rattles that is sometimes an issue with other brands.
I have one of George's 35% models. It has been on for a bit over a year now. I hear a lot of good things about his new model but the old one is so good, I am afraid to change!

Tomiboy,
I have an '09 too, and right away after I took delivery I could see that the shifter was a priority issue. From all reports, it is better than the earlier C6 shifters, but it isn't great. With the amount of force necessary to operate the stock short shifter, and the amount of play in the stock assembly, it makes for the cliche "wet noodle" vague, rubbery experience.
I had trouble finding the gears with the stock shifter. My MGW 15% cured that problem, but rattling became an issue. The MGW adapters don't hold the stock **** on as securely as the stock shifter does. Eventually I fled to a C5 threaded **** and adapter, though on my car only the newly redesigned MGW 30% shifter got rid of the rattling.
I am now quite happy with my MGW setup, though I wish shift effort was just a tad less. It is a big improvement over the stock. The first MGW gave me a little trouble getting into Reverse, but the latest seems to be problem free.
