Would I benefit more from a cam or 4.10 gears? On the freeway, I am not going above 80 on average and more street driving then freeway driving.

I have the HURRICANE INTAKE, DIABLO PREDATOR PROGRAMMER and BASSANI Cat-Back.

Gears will wake your car up. That slow climb from 0-40 will be gone. No smog issues and within your budget. I suspect most of the na sayers do not have gears. BTW, city milage the same, highway minus 2. Top end unchanged.

I agree with those that say gears Hands Down over tearing into the engine for a cam. No tune needed, no smog test problems, no drivability issues. Nothing for your level of money will give you more bottom end and all around performance than gears. If you're having someone install the cam and they have to tune the car it'll probably cost more than the gears.

If you're doing gears there is also no better time to change the clutch since they've got it all apart anyway, you'll mostly only be paying for the cost of the clutch itself.

California is a bear with mods...... and the smog test You would be safe with a set of gears & some sticky tires.
