Default IL Emissions

I have an '07 LS2 M6 and am planning on getting the Techco SC as soon as it is available. Does anyone know if there is a problem getting through the Illinois emissions visual inspection with either long tube headers (have to relocate the cats) or shorty headers (cats in normal location)? Either type of header is probably technically illegal but have you been able to get them through without a hassle? Thanks.

In my part of Illinois at least, there are no emissions tests. From what I hear in other states it's a mixed bag as to whether you get caught or not.

Thanks for the info Matthew.

What experience have people from the Chicago suburbs had with headers when they went through inspection?

I went through it - no visual inspection. As long as there were 4 codes or less, it passed. All they did was plug me in and then use some big pressure testing device that screwed on to my gas filler tube. Doesn't matter where the cats are, because there isn't a cool-down period. When you go, you never shut down until inside the facility and they then plug you in and test (engine running again after about a 2 minute shut down).

Quickest time of the day to go through it is around noon. Not many cars there for some reason.

Thanks for the info. Not expecting any problem with the emissions readings but didn't know if they would fail me on visual.
