Default pre/post LGM tune numbers

just took my 08 coupe to LGM for a dyno tune. i was VERY skeptical about how much power you could pick up on a car like mine that had basically nothing but a halltech and a ported TB.
let the car cool and dynoed..put down 398/386.. I thought that wasnt bad. Then the tuning started.

after a dyno and several back to back pulls the car put down 414/398 consistantly.. i was very pleased that for just a tune i picked up 16 rwhp...

thanks LGM!!

For top end racing, I'd go AR or Kooks.... Lg has better midrange, but Kooks and AR excel on the top end where YOU will be racing....

For reasons i would rather not mention, AR is not an option.. Kooks are good but from what i have seen from several ls3 + BIG cam dynos dont offer anything over the LGM headers.. plus the facth for what my price is to purchase and install the LGM headers, i would be a fool to not jump on them. LGM is local, and any issues i have with the product or fitment( which i dont expect to have) i can just drive over to them. Cant say the same about AR or kooks.

what was the oil temp during the runs as the oil temp has to be within 2 degrees to be a repeatable test

2 degrees ? I agree there would be some variation, but I would think there would be a little more allowance than that. I could see 10deg oil temp being worth 2hp or something like that.

i have seen 18 HP with 20 degrees difference. it take a lot of HP to turn the oil pump and when the oil is cold it take a lot more. a favorite trick of tuners is to do the first test cold then the after tune test hot to show a greater HP increase

first dyno was straight off the street. so unless my oil temp was low after a 30 minute freeway beating of the car... i doubt that was it.plus. the car did 4 back to back pulls at 398.. and then consistantly raised in HP as they tuned.

Sounds like a worthwhile test for someone to document further. Certainly seems like what you saw was worst case.

In any event, I suppose it is fair to say that the "accurate" hp is with warmed up oil. i.e., there may be inconsistency and comparison problems, but one can't really point at an end result and question it as inflated due to high oil temps.

I hope the loss of your entire powertrain warranty is worth 16hp.
But I guess thats why they say "got to pay to play"
I was thinking about the same mods but if Im going to lose my warranty
might as well get a supercharger to make it worth my while.
Good luck with any future mods.

What was the point of your post? Except to say you (and some others) are spooked by some fear factor postings here of GM going after tunes. I have yet to hear anybody losing their powertrain warranty from a tune, have you? How do you know the OP doesnt have good relationship with his dealer, or knows how to go back to oem tune and/or spare ecm, or does not give a rat's *ss about his warranty?

are you really this ignorant? get out of my thread..
if the motor goes. i will build it.. if the tranny goes.. i will build it.. i didnt buy a vette to ***** foot around like an old man. If i wanted that i would have bought a BMW and then gone on about how refined it is. i wonder what will impact my power train warrenty more. the LG headers im planning this year.. or the big nastey LG cam that will go in shortly after the headers?

LOL, I love this thread. Warranty lol. I dropped off my Brand New white C6 M6 coupe at LG motorsports last month. It was with them for 4 days and I got the following installed....

Vararam Intake

LG Super Pro Headers, 1 7/8" runners because I am dropping in a 416ci

G6X3 cam

COMP 921 SPRING KIT

COMP PUSH RODS, Seats, Seals, Retainers, and a Katech Timing
Chain

LG GT4 Catback exhaust (catless) with quad 4" tips

UNDERDRIVE PULLEY SET

HYPERTECH 160 DEGREE POWERSTAT

Final tune numbers (500whp 455tq) thank you very much, 98 degree day too. Bigger numbers coming soon.

when I get back, I am doing 3.90 gears, 416 bottom end, and Intake manifold with hopefully a 102mm TB.
