I recently put in 4.10 gears in my 2006 manual 6. Love the gears BUT have noticed that when I'm under heavy acceleration that my car redlines at 6k in second gear instead of 6500rpm.
Now, it doesn't do this in any other gear (tried 1st 3rd and 4th gears)under heavy acceleration...only in second gear.
When I slowly wind out second gear until the 6500 rpm redline, I don't have the same problem, it will rev until the normal 6500 rpm limit.
So, it only happens under WOT pulls in 2nd gear...hits the rev limiter at 6k rpm.
There is a secondary rev limiter that kicks in 500rpm before the final rev limiter. It's in the "RPM Limit Accel Thresh vs Accel" table using HP Tuners. If you have 4.10s and this wasn't adjusted in your tune, it's more than likely the problem. You can find more if you use the search feature...but I saved a you a few clicks....Look HERE
The 4.10 gears let you wind up much faster than the tach can respond. I bet you have the same problem in 1st. gear too. Just shift a little early to compensate and you'll be fine.

No doubt this is the issue. Man I really pulled my hair out years ago over this.
Bright side is, I bought HP Tuners to fix this and I've gotten more pleasure out of scanning and tuning my car than I ever expected. Scanning is great - the car tells you what it wants then you can give it to it with the tuning side.
Thanks for finding and posting Craigster. My thoughts are with you buddy and thanks for the call today. I'm all set w/ the 4.10's. I figured might as well join the others with them.

4.10's all the way, you are in the 10's brother, I have been watching your runs, you should see how the 4.10's work with 500rwhp and sticky tires...
