I'm sick of flirting with the limiter, it just comes on too quick and there is so much other stuff to worry about at WOT with 600 whp
I was thinking of a Raptor, but I know MSD among others offers them. I would love to see some mounted up to get a better idea of which one looks best. Thanks
I installed a progressive shift light (Shift-I) for running on roadrace tracks. For my C6 Z06 I set it for the first light to come on at 3,500 rpm and for all to be lit and start flashing at 6,800 rpm.
If you want it for drag racing, you probably only are interested in something coming on at your shift point. However, you can program the Shift-I a number of different ways, including (I think) just all the lights coming on at your shift point instead of progressive lights illuminating at intervals throughout your power band.

i have a raptor in mine and love it...don't have a pic of it but this is a pic of an srt4 on their site...this is where mine is located...on top of the steering column behind the wheel but in front of the speedo...

Bob
.
Bob, do you ever find you want the placement slightly different? It looks nicely tucked in where you have it, I'm just curious if you'd want to have it a bit higher?
ps. thanks for sending the supplemental install information to Ecliptech - I saw your install instructions posted on their website.

It works great where I've got it. If it were a single light it might not be that noticeable. However, with the 7 lights progressively lighting up, then all flashing like crazy at your shift point, you notice it very clearly while looking ahead through the windshield. You can't miss it when all 7 lights are flashing!!
Here's a video taken during an HPDE at Daytona last Dec, but the shift lights (as well as the tach and speedo) are blinking all the time in the video - they don't do that in real life! I think the blinking is due to my video being taken at 30 fps and the electrical system of the car being 60 Hz. I can't find a way to change the speed of my ChaseCam video recorder, so I just put up with the flashing in the videos.
You can see just after 1:10 in the video I'm coming out of the infield and accelerating onto the high-banked oval and doing a couple shifts up near redline (7,000 in the C6 Z06). Also, coming out of the Bus Stop (the chicane on the SuperStretch back straight) just after about 1:40 as I accelerate into NASCAR T3 I get up toward redline. You can see the lights progressively illuminate - and you won't miss them when all 7 are lit up and start flashing!!
to OP i have mine at eye level on A pillar I look at the HUD while looking ahead and look at the shifter out of my peripheral vision keeping eyes on the road. I couldnt have it in the dash like others posters do. sorry for the large size.
Bob that is one sweet setup you have with that Traqmate! Really makes watching your vids fun and is great way for you to analyze them. Since my kids were born I don't road course so much anymore but I have to get one of those soon as they are old enough to ride along! You get some great speed at Daytona - I'm going to have to drive up and try that track.
Back on topic: I've got a Autometer 2 5/8" shift light that matches my other Cobalt gauges from them in my gauge pod.
Not the best picture but it's in the middle pod. It is bright at heck you can't miss it when it goes off. I has launch features too and other adjustments but I don't use any, I just use it as a shift light.
