Default Slow track times

After going to the track yesterday I went home sad. It was my first time going to a 1/4 track but the first run I made was a 13.6 then the second was a 13.4. I stop running my car because it was like 100F outside. My car is a 05 A4 Z51 with a vararam intake. Shouldnt I be getting faster times?

Takes practice to be good at it, just like anything else. Check out Ranger's web site. Also, there are some good drag racing web sites.

106 traps for 2900' and 100 degrees is not bad at all. I live at 5200' elevation and when the density is about the same as the elevation we lose 8mph traps from sea level. Unfortunately we typically have the high thin air and the hot temps too, which equates too 8000+' density at times. Figure your about 6 mph off from sea level with the elevation and temps!

Heat sux!

What 60ft?

I cant wait for colder weather (60-70f)
There is bunch of us down in central/south taxas running crap times in this 100-105F san antonio heat.

Best in my 06Z06 was 12.71@118 with 120.90 being best mph (2.2 60ft)

It takes practice, cold weather, letting car cool off between runs (i came to track ran 5 runs back to back in 45 min and expected to run good times- LOL - no way) and then elevation is the key as well.

You will do half second faster + 4-6mph faster in cold weather.

My 98 Trans Am (A4) loved cold weather and that is time difference i noticed between summer and winter times.

Then with Torque converter (VIG 3200) and 3.73 gears, intake, (drag radials nitto 555r), I ran 12.1@114

Torque Converter was the **** on that car. I sold it few years ago just to get in 06 Z06 early this year.

Torque Converter, Gears and headers are 3 mods will net you over 1 sec on 1/4 mile easy.

Good luck, keep practicing.

Heat kills 1/4 mile time and mph.

But, I am just having blast with this car (had it since march) and I enjoy every second of it.

Now, it is even more fun seeing how as i get better driving it, the 1/4 mile time keeps dropping and I am getting closer to 11s.

Now, few more practice days and 60f weather and i will be there.

Then once i keep getting lets say 11.8 constantly, then it is time to do more mods. I hope by xmas to have headers, LSX intake and tunning and hopefully have plenty of practice to run 11.5@125+

This car is just amazing.

Practice, have fun, and enjoy it.

Take care folks

See you all in DARLINGTON, SC. (moving there from texas by month end)

Sure you should go faster...but not at 2900' atltitude and 100* degrees. If you run at the same track at 50* degrees your time would be a 12.9 and if you went to a track at 29 feet and 50* degrees, your time would be 12.5 and go home happy. So now you learned to keep you and your C6 happy you need cold air and low altitude

I was just giving you a little hell. I envy you for having a Z. The biggest thing you could possibly do with that beast is add a set of rear 18" wheels and some Mickey T drag radials! You will knock a second off right off the bat.

Didn't you mean .10 of a second? Adding rear DR's and knocking off a second? If it was that easy, nobody would be buying CAI's or Headers!

He ran a 12.7 @ 118 in his Z06. With a set of Mickeys and a good hard launch he will easily knock a second and cut a 11.7.

?? He did a 2.2 60'. Even if he pulls a Ranger style 1.70 60', you are still talking about a half second assuming same track and same high heat (DA). Of course, if the temp drops from 100* to 60*, you do pick up .40 from just that.

I think it is possible.

Those tires and 60F weather (1.8 60ft) and I think I can shave 1 full sec off no doubt

I am actually thinking about getting those tires for track use. Wish they make them in 19s so i can run them on the car every day without switching every time i go to the track.

Every .10 on your 60' buys you 2-3 .10's at the line, so if you take a 2.1 60' and turn it into a 1.6, your talking about at least a 1.0 difference.
