I have a friend who is going to put a supercharger on an 08 a6 and he was wondering how much hp can they handle before they fail.Any help would be great.
He can also choose a tire that will allow some spin. If the tires take the abuse it will prolong the trans.
Sticky tires are faster but they will break parts.
I have 520 RWHP in my A6. On the street I try not to holeshot so I dont shock my driveline to much. I have Z06 size runflats.
he put a supercharger on it , and now he has you come on the forum to ask how much HP the tranny will hold? does he hold the wheel while you move the gearshift?

What happens when he mashes it from a roll and tires stick? All the torque goes to the transmission and there is greater stress on the tranny since the car is in a higher gear.
How many A6's have grenaded first gear vs second or third? Unless it is just first gear that breaks in the A6, I don't think that is such a good plan. Besides, why have the power if it can't put it to the ground.

Good points. Sometimes a little spinning with a hard hook immediately following it is much more stressful on the driveline (especially the rear) than just a straight dead hook (no spin) right off the line is.

It will not last forever with the stock 6L80 anyway so until he decides on an RPM built A6 and then a DR for street use, a bit of spinning would be my choice.
