Going racing this weekend...i need some advice on replacing the front sway on a 05 c6...i have a choice of the eibach or the hotchkiss...the eibach is 1 3/8 and the hotchkiss is 1 1/2 inches...which one should i go with or is there another one out there i should consider...the only things in stock i can change are the mufflers, shocks, front sway and the air filter...done all the rest so the sway is left...i would appreciate any and all posts/suggestions...
I agree. The most significant "upgrade" is your skills. Get them honed and then talk mods.
hey guys...i have the skills...i have won in several other classes...i need the advice because i am switching to a different car and need guys with experience in setting up a stock c6...again i would like some advice
Usually, a mass-produced car is tuned so that it has understeer. What have you noticed ? Does the car push ? If so, your answer is unlikely a larger front sway bar.
I race my Z06 so I'm not sure what a regular C6 handles like or what kind of effect that installing a larger front sway bar (other than the rule of thumb) on a regular C6 does.
Try asking this question in the "Autocrossing & Roadracing" subsection. You will get better answers.
I've autocrossed for years, but the first time I ran my C6 it pushed like a pig. Turns out the supercar runflats do not need a lot of pressure. I was running 40 in the fronts. I lowered the front pressure to 34 and it turned in a lot better. Also, get a good alignment before you go out. The car can stand a lot more front negative camber to help with turn-in. Have fun!
Run the car stock before making any changes. Sways won't do much. You can shave serveral seconds by switching to sticky tires. Setup depends on class you're running in.
if it's a base model put the Z51 sways on with pfadt poly bushings, dont change just the front it will handle really funny the Z51/Z06 fronts are the same size, you've been a member since 2006, there has to have been 3000 post's on this subject since then, you say your a very experienced race driver, but can't use the search fuction or know nothing about cars or the one your driving?

sheesh...thanks for the positive information...bunch of friendly guys...what does an experienced race driver have to do with using the search function...at least i can spell function...i know a lot about my car but regarding ss in scca you can only do so much and i didnt want to over modify early...i was just hoping for some quick, friendly advice from experienced racers with this car...yes the car does push a lot more than my other race cars...it is much heavier and the stock run flat tires were discarded long...if you put 40 up front in almost anything rear wheel drive you are going to get push...i can only change the front bar in scca ss competition...so i wont change anything...yes and i know tires will give me better results...i have two sets of hoosiers A6s for another car that don't fit on a corvette...think i might want to post on another forum next time...

That guy trolls every thread, I wouldn't worry about it.

Try the autocross and road racing section. You will find a more positive result there.
IMO for SS I might want a smaller front bar to help the car rotate. I would buy the best shocks I could get my hands on and go from there. Have you AXed the car yet? What are your alignment settings? With stock Z51 suspension I found a hair of toe out on front 1/32-1/16" really helps get into the corner, 1/8-1/4" toe in on back helps keep the rear planted on exit. I ran around -1.3 front camber and -1 rear. In SS you are really limited and I am not sure a front bar change would be helpful. Shocks are going to be your best bet IMO. The C6 is really limited in SS by the narrow front wheels, A well driven C5Z06 will beat you everytime. The capability of the C5Z06 with its 9.5" front wheels and 10.5" rear wheels has a huge advantage. The C6 is much better suited as an ASP car.
thanks...thats information that is helpful...i will be running against other c6 coupes and there are no c5z06s in the class right now and completely understand what you say about wheel size...the alignment is pretty tame compared to what i am used to in csp and ssm miata circles...i will see where all this takes me...and yes i have posted on the autocrossing section as well but so far except for the troller i have been getting good info here...thanks again...
