Default Active Handling

I know this has been addressed many times here, but I have an intermittent problem (about once every 5 days or so as this is my daily driver) that I believe goes beyond just the steering column issues (that I already had fixed).

First I see - service "Antilock Brakes", then service "Traction Control", and finally service "Active handling" on the DIC which then continues to cycle thru those messages non-stop. Simultaneously both amber lights in my dash will light up and stay lit until I turn off and restart the car.

This all happens within a few seconds. Also, I see just the active handling is active on the DIC quite often these days. My dealer did a quick scan on the car and informed me the car was OK.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Have you changed from stock wheel/tire sizes?

Not at all. I am even using the same GY tire brand/type that came with her from the dealer.

This problem started this spring right about when she turned over 60K miles.

Just as I suspected, no one with an answer. IMHO Active handling /electrical is the corvettes biggest flaw.

I have similar issues with that and NO ONE (including 2 dealers) could figure them out.

Good luck and keep us posted

Have your dealer install an in flight recorder so the problem can be recorded when it happens. four incidents can be recorded on the unit. A lack of communication between computer modules could be the problem, the recorder will note it. Good Luck.

Sure seems like a big issue for lots of folk. And my Vette is now over 60K so if anything goes wrong it is on my dime. Sigh.

I will let you know ASAP if I come up with an answer.

Take a look at these threads. This one describes my problems (post 23) with an 06 convertible with F55. Your description sounds a lot like what I saw when running the data recorder.

This one (post 13) is about "random" messages that may apply if you get other status messages that are not active handling or traction control related.

My '01 C-5 used to give those messages occasionally. Problem was corroded or defective connectors where the wheel sensors connect to the wiring harness.
I'd pull the wheels, examine the connectors, and use silicone grease on them. Might solve some of these problems.

Use electrical contact cleaner before using dialectic grease (get from auto parts store, used in distributors, etc.). You can get contact cleaner from Lowes in the electrical department, this is made for cleaning electical contacts and is UL approved, etc.

I had the same issue with my 2006 C6. Every once and a while I'd get yellow lights and DIC messages. The dealer was able to find a fault code that led them to replace a wheel speed sensor connector. Problem fixed and never came back.
