Awesome, thanks for the pics along the way. Were there a lot of reusable parts after the fire? Did the heat from the fire weaken the strength of the frame at all?

A lot of parts are able to be re-used. The wiring, and plumbing suffered the worst of the fire.

The fire did not last that long, and pretty much just messed up the paint on the frame, nothing bad enough to harm the steel. Because of the nature and cost of the car, it is being stripped all the way down, cleaned and re-painted.

The fire was caused by the BMW hitting Boris in the passenger side. After a few laps (only about 6 to go) the exhaust had caught the body work on fire, and led to the fuel system going next.

A lot of prep going into this week's photos.

To give you an idea the floor of these cars has to be completely flat, we are given roughly a 5mm tolerance from this. You can see this in the pictures below as we string the car front to back and pick points along the floor before mounting.

To cut down on heat we are going a few more steps and covering the firewall with Ti, and it will be covered in gold just like the tunnel of the car was as well.

Firewall heat Protection in progress

Fuel cells being installed

Fuel plumbing started

Preparing for floor install

Checking for flatness

Side Pipe heat protection
