GY vs FS Widths...?

GY vs FS Widths...?
Ill be in the mkt for rears and on the fence about RFs. Either way I want a wide rear tire

Non RFs I can go up to 305 but, if I stay RFs I dont think you can wider than the 285 (yes/no?).
That being said...
FS FireHawks Wide Oval rates the tread width at 10.4" while the GY rates at 9.2"!
Are the FS really 1.2" wider (or appear) than the GYs?!
