174 MPH blast thru the desert
Took my 2009 Z51 LT3 NPP for its maiden hi-way voyage thru the Nevada-Utah (US6/50) desert last month.
Top speed: 174 mph (I quit before the car did, but I was propably near the horsepower wall any way) still in 5 fifth gear (A6) at 5500 rpm.
The car cooks between 80 and 140 mph.
The sport mode screwed up twice on me and activated the over-rev (I was't paddle shifting, it just didn't shift automatically). 1 time I over revved because I was already in the paddle shift mode and forgot.
The last leg of the trip thru Colorado (at close to posted speeds) I got 28.5 Miles Per GALLON!! Pretty much 25.5 the rest of the time. This car is a Prius with 436HP!!
