Interesting thread. A friend sent it to me. I believe that when you put new plugs in it feels better cuz well they are new and do not have any build up on them. I remember when i put my NGK plugs in i talked to LG about gapping them and they said that there was no reason. So i didn't. I would listen to the plug manufacturer on the gap amount, won't all spark plugs need slightly different gaps. Dependant on material and geometry to get that proper spark jump? Just curious.

Giving the manufacturers the benefit of the doubt, the plugs might actually be set correctly at the factory, but change from rough handling and shipping.
MANY years ago, I worked in a high end auto supply warehouse....we picked orders from shelves that were sometimes 25 feet high. Boxes of 300-900 plugs were heavy, and let's just say that the order packers and pickers were not as careful at they could be.
