Default Need a Part HELP!

I am about to purchase a car from a forum member and there is only one thing in our way from this deal closing. The car is currently at a GM dealership awaiting for the steering column module part # 88963405, they have put this on a high priority and as of right now the earliest they can get it in is two weeks from now. Can anyone get this sooner, or does anybody know of any dealers that would have this on the shelf?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! I would LOVE to have this by the weekend.

Can you be a little more specific. I've looked up the part number and it says "Lock" but doesn't show a diagram. I have a complete steering column and probably have the part if I know which one it is.

Didn't they remove that feature after the 2005 model year?

If so, then I assume you're buying a 2005 C6, and if you're getting the part from a salvage source, you'll need to get it out of a 2005 steering column.

Anyway.....I'm not sure about the steering column lock, but just throwing out something to think about.

Edited: Aha.....just after posting my message I saw your post above that the car is actually a 2005. I'm still not sure that they did away with that feature in latter model years, but if so and you're getting the part used, you'll need to get it from a 2005 car.

I am under the impression that it was only in the 05's for the C6. My column is out of an 07 so no luck there.

Hey Robert

Yeah....I just went out and checked my 2006 Z06, and as I thought, there's no column lock feature in it.

If there anything to install to prevent this from happening in this year model? I know they have that kit for the older ones but what about these?

I never had a C5, but I understand they had column lock problems and that somebody came up with a kit to provide a solution.

However, I think there have been very, very few problems with the C6, so I don't think anybody ever came up with a solution for a problem that just didn't exist - especially since I think they discontinued the lock with the 2006 model year.

So....I guess you're going to have to wait for the part from the GM parts system, or start checking the salvage outfits for a used part from a 2005.

Good luck!
