Default Optima Battery

After 4 years and 2 or 3 bouts with DBS I think it's time to replace the battery in my 2005. The battery will now only hold a charge for 2-3 days. Until 2 weeks ago I could easily go a week or more. In looking for a new battery I have found the Optima 9035-160 & 8035-160. I can't seem to find out what the differance is. Anyone have any sugestion?
Thanks

I have an OPTIMA in my 02 C5 ZO6. Was it a good battery, Sure! Was it worth 3X the price of a regular everyday walmart battery. NO!

The next battery I get will be a Walmart battery. 3YR Free replacement, fail safe reliability.

Ill NEVER pay that much for a battery again.

Wallyworld didn't/doesn't carry a battery for the C6. May have changed since I replaced mine earlier this year.

The Optima Model 35 (Red Top) or D35 (Yellow Top) are the 2 that fit the best and have the + terminal on the right. $150 and $180.

There are some other, slightly larger models that also work.

Check 1stOptima online for more helpful details.

Default Optima Batteries

I just purchased a optima D34/78 yellow top for my 2005 vert for $157.33 with free shipping and a $25.00 mail in rebate from AMAZON.Com. It arrived in 3 days. After rebate the total price was $132.33. That a good deal.

Still, any Optima Yellow Top is a good deal at any price, IMO.
Unlike all the other batteries, this yellow top deep discharge can be
recharged and recharged and recharged a hundred times. Try that on the oem c6 battery.

Default Good Battery?

I have had two Optima Red Top batteries in my Z06. They last about 2 years each. What do I mean by last? I mean that after standing for 2 weeks without starting...will they start the car? Will I have another Optima battery? NEVER! The low-tech Walmart batteries last longer than the Optima does.

This is the exact same battery I got for my 05 as the + & - terminals are on different sides...I honestly can't say how good or bad it is because I've only had it 4 months.. however I drag Race, & between rounds, I have the engine OFF and run the just the fan for app 10-15 min to cool the engine & I do this 7-8 times whenever I race it...

When I get home I do put it on a batter tender .. and so far... so good !! My original battery (05) was starting to get weak & was turning the engine over slow after I ran the fan 2 or 3 times...

The Optima Yellow D34 has been perfect so far...

It's "perfect" because you keep it on a tender. I got the red Optima and like others above won't do this again. Two hamsters spinning a wheel will keep a deep charge longer!!

I experienced many battery related issues in my 2005. Two years ago I replaced the original battery with a yellow top Optima. End of problems. Period.

When the Red Top does finally go.. will you replace it with a Yellow Top Optima, or a less expensive battery ?

I will need a lot of proof in print before I go with another Optima battery.
"Less expensive" is not the operative point. I don't mind paying more for value, especially when it comes to something like a battery. I will certainly do some reading and see what is out there. The auto parts stores all seem to be carrying some good stuff these days. I believe it is somewhat of a competitive item for them - they want your business on a regular basis.

I've had my Optima Red Top for 30 months and it's still going strong. I have a Sears battery in my other car and it's six years old and still strong. I like the Optima because it's red and my corvette is red. That's as good a reason as any to buy the Optima.

I have yet to use a tender on my Yellow Top and it keeps starting and starting. Like jpee, I too turn on my fan with HP Tuner at the drag strip. Thanks, but no need here for the hamsters, nor the oem battery.

I was seriously considering getting an Optima until I found out they are heavier than the stock battery. That's one thing I try very hard to avoid, adding weight to my car.

True...but but whatever the Optima weighs over the oem battery, the purchaser can lose a few pounds via diet and excercise. Thus, both the optima battery and driver become winners.
