Default Transfer Tube O-Ring Seal Failure-Advice Please

I've read on the forum that a few members experienced the O-ring splitting in the oil tank (Z06) causing a tube to rattle against the inner wall of the tank. It is audible as a rattling/clanking sound coming from behind the passenger side dash. I experienced the same issue and it was confirmed by the dealer. They said it was a simple fix, but when I returned home it started all over again.

I suspect this is nothing more than an annoyance (ie the rattle), but in the event it may lead to some type of future damage, I don't want to wait. Can not repairing it cause any harm? Any advice (other than turning up the radio ) ? Thanks.
