I have an a6 vette on street tires and I was wondering if I should put it in sport mode and drop it in first to minimize wheel spin on a 25mph roll race. Then throw it in drive to let it shift on its own. Or should I just leave it in sport and let it shift? I have headers and cai, no torque management
Throw it in Sport and let it shift. I was launching at around 1,000 rpms (just enough to start loading the torque converter) and had no wheel spin on a properly prepped track.
My first time to the track on less than new runflats I got a faster time with everything on. And I have an auto. Get some Invos and start having fun istead of trying to tip toe, wasting hp with those runcraps! Just my honest opinon
From a 25 mph roll you'd be better off in paddle mode holding 1st gear. S mode non-paddle mode would put you in 2nd gear at a 25 mph roll. So you will have a lag when you go WOT in 2nd as it downshifts to 1st (not to mention it may spin as it downshifts). You just have to shift quick or you'll hit the rev limiter going into 2nd. I'm assuming this is a new type of drag racing track where you get to start from a roll.

I was thinking the exact same thing... where can you race from a 25mph roll ????? I'm sure he's not a "Ricer" as thats the only way they will race with their FWD Honda's...
I have had good luck with Mickey Thompson DR.. but usually start my race from a standing start when I see the bottom Yellow Light...

I just re-read this. There are two settings on torque management, Upshift and Downshift. If you have both off the Downshift is your problem. It will downshift so hard that you will get spin from a roll when it downshifts. I'd turn the TM to engaged on Downshifts and leave the Upshift disabled. Then you will get much less wheel spin if any. I had my TM Downshifts disabled long enough to take a test drive and change my underwear. Then it went back to enabled on downshifts.
