I have a '06 Z51 6spd. Lately I cannot let the car sit for a few days without the battery going dead. I drive the car about 1-2 times a week. But today I could not get her to start even after jump starting the battery. It's got enough juice to turn on the air, stereo & lights but it will not start.
I'm wondering if I could tow it to the dealership and have the warranty cover the cost of the tow. My car has 26K miles but it's more than 36mos old. Has anyone had any luck getting the warranty to cover the costs after 36mos even though you're way under the 36K mile warranty?
Battery under warranty, not likely, but it doesn't hurt to ask, I got one replaced once on another car. Reim for the tow, never happen. Otherwise, Costco batteries seem to get high marks..
Take the battery out, its pretty easy and take it to the parts store for a test. It its bad you can get a yellow top optima from hinson a forum vendor for about what an "Enterprise" or chain store battery costs.

Do the head lights dim or go out while you are trying to crank it over? Does it even try to turn over? If the head lights stay the same brightness while trying to start and there is no sound of starting then it might be something other then the battery. You might be lucky and just have a loose or corroded battery terminal. Try removing the battery terminals and cleaning. It could also be a bad connection at the starter.
How many miles at what kinds of rpms are you driving the car 1-2 times a week? Others who supposedly know have posted here that you need more than just 5-10 minutes at a time to keep the battery built up.
My 06 coupe hasn't had any battery problems yet. I drive it 150 miles on the interstate every week at 75 mph.
