The how to's that I've seen all show how the remove the fuel line under the FRC. Is there some reason the fuel line can't be removed just forward of the firewall?
The flex fuel line at the firewall disconnects the same as at the fuel rail. Remove clip, insert the special tool inside the fuel line to release tabs and pull line apart.
Hope this helps.

Thanks,
If you're just removing the FRCs it isn't necessary. I covered the fuel line with plastic wrap, removed the FRCs and installed painted ones. No issues, scratches etc.
I bought the $7 fuel line disconnect tool from Advance Auto. I was a chicken sh-t!
Jeff
PS- Just remember to release the pressure by unscrewing the black cap on the fuel rail first or you'll be in for a surprise! Seriously, spraying gasoline is dangerous.

If it's dark you'll need a lighter to see what you're doing.

There's a good heads up. I'd have never thought of it.
