Default Pfadt C6 motor mount install

Question.....

The installation instructions estimate ~5-6 hours for install with proper tools & lift. Exhaust disassembly (stock manifolds or headers) required from motor. Asking for input from those who have installed these bad boys. Obviously it would be best to install when having the motor pulled, but is it worth making the attempt and install in my garage or leave it to the pro's and take it to a performance shop? Looks difficult with no lift.

I heard unlike the Pfadt transmission mounts, the motor mounts don't transfer much chase drivetrain noise, very minor. But the installation instructions clearly state, "This kit will transfer more vibration than stock at low RPM's". True? (for street or DD use).

Default Pfadt Motor Mount install

I've installed the Pfadt motor mounts and tranny mounts. I DOES require a lift to do it properly. The headers DO NOT NEED to be removed, but there is not much room to work in there, and the motor needs to allow to cool before attempting this unless you want to fry your hands. About two weeks ago, I posted a thread on this Tech Forum entitled "Feedback on Pfadt Motor/Transmission mount install". It covers this process entirely. Check it out. Ray

I'm trying to get direct "real world" customer feedback, like Ray's helpful response (Thanks Ray! ). I know it's not an easy job, but I'm more concerned about the possible vibration issues at low RPM's.

.......and it's "PFADT", not PHADT, but I can't even pronounce it.

Default Pfadt mounts

The reason I installed the mounts, (engine, transmission and differential) was to keep the drive train from flexing during hard acceleration. It defiantly keeps thing from moving around but the vibration is a little harsh at idle and a few other places in the RPM range. And the diff mounts transmit a whining noise that you can hear in the car. This may or may not be of concern for you but it takes a good riding car and makes it a little rough. I am getting use to the harshness but will probably put it back to stock this Winter.

Sorry RFP but that is just my opinion! Don't get me wrong, the stuff works as advertised and if you drag the car a lot it would be beneficial but its not for me.

Greg...

Check out my post again... my not-so-subtle sarcastic comment was not directed at your post.

Still friends?

The motor mounts help to keep the "twist" of the engine to a minimum, which occurs at stomp down throttle time!
I'll put more RWHP down to the ground!
I'm doing it to Mine!!

is there anybody that has a before and after dyno? if so its probably just as much a throttle body porting or spacer. im sure its not alot to gain but every little bit counts and i need whatever i can get since im shooting for the 10s with just bolt-ons.

I want to know how much this helps the wheel hop/ or tire shake/ or drive train shake.

Default Pfadt Motor/Tranny Mount install

I haven't put my car through any heavy launches since installation of them, but drivetrain shake is all but eliminated. As far as dyno differences, there probably won't be any difference. You're not adding horsepower or torque, but you are focusing the power in a way that prevents hesitation in throttle response/shifting because of torque movement throughout the drivetrain. As far as wheel hop is concerned, remember that that phenomenon is also a function of shocks, tires, etc. so in order to rid your ride of bouncy wheels on launch, those other factors need to be addressed also.
