C5 to C6 Differential swap...DIY write-up????
#61
Sorry to dredge up an old thread, new here mainly for the diff bracket. Does anyone know if Stranger383 is still selling these brackets? I think his last post was years ago. If not, does anyone have documentation on dimensions? I picked up a 2005 supercharged where previous owner cracked the diff case and tig welded it together, it's working but it's leaking. I want the car done right without spending another 4k on an RMP setup on a car I just bought. I can find a 2004 Z06 diff, my main concern is the bracket.

This has to be one of the oldest threads that's still going. I too would like to get my hands on one of these brackets. I have an 05 with a SC that I'm hesitant to drive until i fix the weak link.

Lately I've been asked a lot about this mod and unfortunately I've lost the pics and write-up I did a few years back. I'm thinking about looking for a volunteer with a 05 C6 so that I can make a new jig and also make a write up for those DIY guys.
If anyone is interested PM me. I'm in the Los Angeles area.

Longest running thread revival in history, but I'm super interested in this. It seems like every thread about this has broken links for the photos so you can't even see what it looks like.
Who has photos of a c5 diff going in a c6? And does anybody have these brackets available?

OK I shot a vid for you, I think it will help.
Here you go.
Update 2014 - I'd learned more about my mount.
It's a c3 transmission mount with ears welded on it - the ears are just standard angle iron. You bolt the ears to the c5 diff, then bolt through the cradle (where you weld a doubled up plate for strength) to the c3 transmission mount you bolted to the c5 rear, and go are good to go.
I've got 196 passes on my c5 rear as I type this in 2014 so it's a good mod. And I have a single rib c5 rear, not the stronger 3 rib z06 or 2002 or 2003+ diff when they changed to the three rib rear.

Holy cow...deja vu when this thread notification comes up! This rear and mount is still going strong. I don't think Norm builds them anymore but it is pretty easy to do for any fabricator. Maybe this video will help.
