Its not a problem, its just valve train noise. They all do it. I think more than half the people who buy a z06 wonder if somethings wrong when they first get one (myself included) because of the noise. No need to worry.

Excuse me, but in order to make a educated diagnosis one would actually have to hear it.

What someone calls tapping could mean anything from the normal injector sounds, a header gasket leak, lifters, rockers, piston slap, or even a rod bearing.

My suggestion is to post a video with sound on YouTube so we can hear it.

i am currently stationed in germany and the car is in the states. I have dealt with many older SBC engines and the sound coming from mine sounds exactly like a lifter tap from one of the older engines. I did find out that my AC Compressor did go out.

Sounds pretty serious to me. I think you should sell it. Actualy I was looking for a project car. Ill even give you 30K for it.

Buy a set of Bullets for it and any engine noise will go away.
