IF your LS2, LS3 or LS7 is tuned properly and have no problems. What should your exhaust smell like immediately after a wide open punch? Rotten eggs, gasoline, aromatic, nothing? If you get an odor, does it enter your car? I get a weird odor and it enters my 07 coupe. Normal?

i would have to say somewhere in between nothing or maybe a little smell of fuel. however i think the odor entering the vehicle (no matter what the odor is) is a completely different issue. that makes me think of an exhaust leak. that is what i would be looking for first.

tks, dal
Does the car have stock exhaust system? I have no odor whatsoever at anytime..
I run longtubes with no cats and borla stingers and there is STILL no odor after tuning (confirmed by others to be sure my nose isnt just broken ) Apparently it's hit or miss with no cats though, as some have a VERY distinct smell of fuel.
A rotten egg smell from the exhaust is usually due to sulpher content in the fuel. Change brand. More important is how the odor is entering the vehicle. If your side windows are closed when you do a WOT, a rear hatch, decklid weatherstrip or convertable top to deck lid weatherstrip is not sealing completely. Beyond that you need to check underbody seams near the exhaust system. Good Luck.
If you have access to a hoist, a good way to feel for body leaks around the exhaust system is with the HVAC blower on high, and doors and windows closed.
i got tha same problem after i install headers with no cats ?
The rotten egg smell is usually associated with the cats. Either there are non or they are deffective. Sometime the wrong a/f mixture will make the cats act up to create that smell.
vehicle's engine is putting out unburned gasoline vapors, air/fuel mixture is too rich, and one thing that causes this is a clogged air filter. A rotten egg smell results when unburned gasoline vapors react with chemicals in the catalytic converter... check air filter
I have the same thing happen right after I punch the accelerator and let off.
Mine is and 07 also.
I get the odor which smells like the cat converter in the cab with the windows
down or up. I've had the stock cats checked and check out ok.
I give up.
