Default Bilstein Shocks Questions.....

couple of quick questions before i make purchase..

1) with the Z51 package are the sporties the way to go?
2) how well do they help reduce wheel hop on a M6 with over 450rwhp?
3) heard they are a little rough until they break in. how long is typical break in period?
4) where is best place to buy?

tks, dal

1. I made the swap to billie sports on my c6 z51 as well as my old c5z06 and loved it both time. Best-bang-for-buck in my opinion. I drive the car pretty hard at auto-x and track days and doubt this driver could take advantage of the difference between these and the high-dollar shocks.

2. I didn't do enough pre- / post-testing at the strip to have an educated comment on this.

3. Although I'd read about the break-in period, if I hadn't I probably wouldn't have noticed. I'd rate it as not a factor.

4. I like http://www.shockwarehouse.com/, but tirerack is probably competitive too.

I put them on my Z51, but recently upgraded to Pfadt Coilovers. I should have just bought the Pfadt and save the work of changing the shocks twice.

Is this a review of the "billie" dampers w/ no,none, zero other suspension changes, i.e. billie's w/ OEM Z51 leaf springs & sways?

Ride Q (it's fine as is): same, smother or bumpier w/ the change?

Question, how do the '08 Z06 shocks compare to the Bilstien sports? I thought the factory had it figured out by now.

I really hate that scary sideways skip over corner bumps.

The only mod I've made aside from the billies
was the $30 pfdat poly sway bar bushings.

I'd rate ride --quality-- as unchanged overall during everyday driving. It's just pleasantly firmer during hard driving. I've driven stiff suspension c6s and these shocks are nice and mild.

I switched to R888s at the same time as the shocks went in, so I can't comment on that-- my wheel hop is dramatically improved, but the sticky tires are going to be the main contributor.

You might PM Spinmonster on this, I think he did a pretty careful pre/post comparison when switching to the same shocks.

thank you. i understand. when i switched to the PS2's it helped a fair amount also. the best improvement in eliminating wheel hop is 90 degree weather. i am just hoping that the shocks take care of the rest. (or at least a good portion of it)
