Does anyone have a diagram showing how they are installed in the wheel. I need to see if there is a detached O ring in addition to the rubber attached to the sensor.
If there is an O ring, what side of the rim does it go on. The inside or outside. A diagram from the tech manual would be great. Thanks, Skip
Yes, you may be correct. I would really like to see a diagram to be sure. I am working with a spare set of wheels and don't want to have to redo because of a leak. Thanks
Thanks Bill, Is there a separate O ring that goes on either the inside or the outsied of the rim? Or, is it just the sensor with attached rubber plus the nut shown in your picture. Are those two pieces pictured enough to make a air tight seal? I have them but it seems like there should be a separate O ring as well. Thats why I was looking for a tech man. picture. Thanks for the replies. Skip
There's no "O-ring" other than the one you see in Bill's picture and the picture below of a C6 sensor.
There's one "grommet", and as you can see in the pictures, it has a wider section that seals against the inside of the wheel, then a "stepped" section that narrows down to fit into the hole in the wheel.
The torque spec for the retaining nut is very low at 62 inch-lb (that's only 5 foot-lb). If the nut is overtorqued you can cut the grommet and cause a leak problem.
Thanks Bob. Those are the parts I have. I was thinking I needed to add an O ring in there somewhere. I have some rings that fit and it still seems like a good idea. Skip
