Ok, first of all, please disregard the dirt. I installed my Airaid on my '05 this weekend and noticed I could then see the air cleaner after I closed the hood so that led me to think something was wrong. I have a couple of questions.
First of all, what all is missing here? I believe I'm missing some weatherstripping on the front bumper.
Also, I believe I'm missing something called an "upper seal" (#7 below)
Until I've figured it out I've resorted to putting the top from the OEM airbox on the top :-P.
I'm concerned about water infiltration from the top! Please help me figure out what I'm missing!
That front gap on the hood does look a little big to me. I'll look over some of my '08 photos and see if I can find one of the nose and compare the gap. Sorry, I don't have any experience with the Airaid system. Someone else will chime in.
I checked my photos and notice that my '08 has a lip and a rubber seal across the front edge where your '05 does not. It's probably a production change. I'll try and post a photo to show what I'm talking about.
Here you go:

I installed my Airaid and you can see the filter when you're done.
Here is a link to the installed picture on Airaid's website

Thanks for the info, but my issue is that I can still see the filter when the hood is closed (through the gap between the bumper and the hood). I'm going to go to the dealership today to see if I can get the part number for the weatherstrip across the top of the front bumper. Hopefully that will fix my issue before the next cold front passes through and dumps 2" of rain through the gap :-P

Reason: Typo
Yes you are missing the weather strip (#7). I own a 2005 & mine has this weatherstrip. How do you like the Air Raid Intake?
Pete
Thank you very much.
I really do like it quite a bit. I'm not going to lie and say that it "woke up the car," but I like how it changed the sound and it seems like the throttle is a bit more responsive from a roll on.
Phillip, As pcolarossi stated you are missing the weather stripping #7.The gap in your hood could be adjusted as needed after you replace the weather stripping.I installed my Airaid in September and did notice that it did increase my throttle responce and helped it breathe better and it deepened the tone of my exhaust.
I installed mine last weekend too. On mine the rubber grommets sit approximately a half inch forward of the pinhole in the radiator cover. No ways you can pin the grommet down so its just sitting there as a 'shock absorber'. What was yours like Sevinn?
Mine sat a little forward, but ultimately I was able to get them in, however they do not completely go through the grommets. I had to bend the radiator shroud just a bit to get it to snap in but it went back into place once that was the case. The only thing I can think of being wrong in your case is maybe the coupler they sent you was a bit too long. I'll try and get some photos of how it looks for you tonight.
