I'm replacing the left-side trim panel in my convertible that the seat-belt feeds into and also has a hinge for the top.
In the 2006 service manual, pages 9-11 and 9-12 talk about removing the seat belt retractor for the convertible, but do not mention the trim panel as the coupe sections do. Page 8-471 talks about a similar trim panel in the coupe, but is different enough in the convertible not to work.
The issue is the end of the seatbelt is of course too thick too go through the hole in the trim panel. I'm likely just missing a step that makes this possible. Anyone done this before and know what I'm missing?
Looks like the same technique does work with the convertible. There isn't an eschutcheon in the convertible's panel to pop out, but if you take the cover off the seat-belt faster and then disconnect the wiring you can squeeze it all, one piece at a time, through the slot. I was being too gentle.
