Check engine light in 09
I had my check engine light come on over a year ago for an hour or so then go out. This week it came on while I was driving and the next time I took it out, it went out in about 2-3 miles of driving and a couple of stops at stores.
Should I take it in for this or is this something that ocassionally happens. It is not a daily driver, if that matters.

Once a CEL is triggered codes are generated that will identify the fault, even if the CEL goes out the code is retained in the history.
If you don't want to buy a ODBII coder reader, or take it to a dealer any local Auto Zone or Advanced Auto will loan you a coder reader.
Once you have the code it's easy to determine what the problem is, but the CEL doesn't come on for no reason.
Get it checked.
