05 FOB's Will Not Program
After replacing the battery the first #1 FOB was still not being recognized...got the "NO FOB" message on the DIC. I could not remember if after changing the FOB battery whether it was necessary to do the "Matching Transmitter(s) to Your Vehicle" procedure as mentioned in the owners manual. Because the FOB didn't work after the battery replacement, I went about doing the transmitter matching procedure outlined where a recognized transmitter is available...my second #1 FOB was working.
Following the procedure in the owners manual, I placed the FOB in the glove box transmitter pocket...not paying attention I did not place the FOB in the pocket with the buttons facing the passenger side, so mid way through the matching procedure I pulled the FOB out of the pocket with the intention of re-doing the matching procedure. I did the key turn 5 times but did not get the "READY FOR FOB #X" message on the DIC. I tried it a couple of more times with still no luck. Apparently I got far enough along that the vehicle was able to erase memory of all #1 FOB's, because my backup #1 FOB was not being recognized either.
Next I tried the procedure outlined in the owners manual when no recognized transmitters are available. Just to be on the safe side I replaced the battery in my second #1 FOB prior to doing the matching procedure. I correctly inserted the FOB in the pocket and then did the 5 key turns and got the "OFF-ACCESSORY TO LEARN" message as the manual said I should. Then I pressed the ACC button (ignition switch) as instructed. At this point I'm supposed to get a count down message that says "WAIT 10 MINUTES" on the DIC. Instead the vehicle stops the learning procedure and puts the vehicle in ACC mode...it turns on the radio, A/C, etc. I tried several times to repeat the learning procedure with the same results.
I disconnected the car battery for about 5 minutes, and tried the FOB learning procedure again...still no luck. I removed the FOB batteries, thinking something might be hosed up...still no luck.
This morning I found two #2 FOB's and both of them seem to work. So at least now I can lock and get in and out of my car.
My question to the forum...has anyone experienced a similar issue with FOB programming? If so, what did you do to resolve it?
Thanks,

Here is a link to the shorter procedure to add fobs if you have a working #1 fob.

I'll admit I haven't seen a case with the exact same problems you had. I'm merely suggesting that if you do additional programming, try using one of the procedures for which I posted the link.
Also, one suggestion. If you're unhappy about a post in your thread, be more specific about which one(s). That way those affected should know not to respond in like manner to any future posts of yours.
He list some steps them under "G"; states if you don't get it right "only General Goodwrench will be able to program your fob".
under "H"; "press the ACC button (ignition switch)". Does this mean to press the upper portion (ON) or the lower portion (OFF/ACC)?
Good post and in English but still-----.
Anybody have a link to the C6 Owners Manual For Dummies?
1) I clearly mentioned that I am aware of two methods of FOB programming in the owners manual and that I tried both methods...re-read my original post --- then a post tells me there are two methods of programming, as if that was not mentioned in my original post.
2) I clearly mentioned the eraser of the FOB's --- then another post tells me that my FOB's will be erased, as if that was not mentioned in my original post.
3) I clearly mention I have an '05 FOB problem --- then another post replies with a link to a gentleman who posted an '08 FOB programming procedure, which appears to be a step by step right out of the owners manual...both are C6's, but are they exactly the same???, in addition another link is posted with a step by step right out of the owners manual, as if I did not have an owers manual
4) I go into great specificity and detail about what the owners manual says, and what I did --- then another post tells me to read carefully and that the procedure is not written in plain English, it appears to be a translation from Japanese/Spanish/Farsi...the steps outlined in the owners manual seem simple enough, and I doubt the technical writers at GM get paid to make things less understandable
5) I clearly ask if any forum members have had similar problems and if so what was the fix/resolution --- I would rather have no/zip/zilch/nada responses, than responses parroting back my question in a re-worded form as if they are answers to my question.
To many are interested in increasing their post count, trying to be funny when serious/relevant questions are asked, or they just feel the need to say something non-relevant.
Let the flames begin...but everything I said is true.
