Okay, here is the latest on Z51 Equipped Corvettes. According to my dealership, the Ceramic Pads with the part # listed above, cannot be installed on a Z51 Corvette! The latest bullentin on these pads states, due to high braking loads impossed on the rear brakes, ceramic pads cannot be installed by a GM Dealership Garage. Yes, the pads will fit the rear brake calipers and yes they will work, but no, GM will not warrant any damage or be responsible for that damage. Just got this laid on me today 11/19/09 by my local dealership and no, my car was not the only one in the shop for this condition: Noise and Dust..
So, on the rear I have matallics on the front I have ceramics ..

Can't be used on the rear? Absurd, since the front brakes do most of the work anyway. I don't see any way the rear with ceramics could possibly be a problem. Front maybe (from a dealer installed liability standpoint), since they wouldn't want to be responsible for the guy who has them and takes the car to the track, but the rears? Then again, nobody ever takes a Corvette to the track since that would void the warranty...

I want to see this supposed 'bulletin'. Responsible for 'damage'? From a brake pad??? Now Z51 Corvettes have higher rear brake loading than a non-Z51 optioned model???
A conservative 100 sets of brake pads have been sold to Z51 customers here and there haven't been those issues. Have someone else install them and move on.
Thanks everyone for the very informative technical data. I have made copies of all this and taken it to the dealership, hopefully they can gather some kind of standards for their other vette customers with the same problem. Me, I'm purchasing a set of ceramics for the rear, the new fronts are woring fine. We drove the car last saturday and put almost 150 miles on the new pads, mostly mountain roads, so far so good.
Thanks Again,
