Default CAI/Catback/Tune gains? 07 model.

What gains can be had from Cold Air Intake, Catback, and a dyno tune? Also any idea what the rwhp/rwtq stock, and the rwhp/rwtq after the mods mentioned above. It's a 2007 (auto tranny).

I was thinking somewhere in the 35-40rwhp range? Or am I far off?

Also what CAI, and catback do you guys recommend?

Thanks alot!

Skip the catback. It will net you next to nothing. 35-40 for CAI and a tune is a bit optomistic, but it really depends on how rich your car runs from the factory. Guessing your rwhp/rwtq is just that, a guess. The type of dyno, quality of gas, temperature, etc all play a factor. Automatics typically dyno lower. Don't get caught up in the numbers. Get a before and after dyno so you can see what your mods were worth.

So the catback isnt worth any gains? Any idea of gains? What do these cars typically dyno at on a dynojet?

My bone stock 07 dyno'd 370.5 rwhp on a stingy dyno, but it's an MN6. A Z06 with an intake and catback made 440 rwhp on the same dyno. The catback might net a couple of hp, literally. The NPP only adds 6 rwhp at best.

Intake will net you some gains but the tune will get you more if you're running rich and a lot less if you're running well from the factory. As I already said it's a guessing game depending on many factors.

when I had my o5 mn6 non z51 I did a baseline of 331rwhp on a hot south florida day, added a bullet catback and filter and 2 hours later did 333rwhp lol,a tune after on the same day and I was up to 355rwhp,so I only gained 2 rwhp from the catback and filter without a tune, tuning is where all the power gains came in my car. Imo tuning and gears are the best bang for the buck, catbacks are really just for sound and better look over the stock pipes as my 2 rwhp showed

My 07 m6 picked up 20 rwhp and 18 rwtq with the Hallteck cai and Corsa Sport catback and a basic tune. I was at 365/363, with an auto, figure 10 less, 355 rwhp and 353 rwtq. That should be pretty close. Dynojet numbers.Stock ls2 a6's dyno approx. 335/335.

I'm guessing your gains were from the intake and tune. Your catback netted you maybe 2-4 rwhp if any. Catbacks on Corvettes just don't make much power.

thanks guys.

i guess i figured about 10rwhp with a cai, 5 rwhp with a corsa catback, and then an additional 20 rwhp with the tune=35rwhp. i guess an extra 20rwhp would still be somewhat noticeable with the auto?

The catback gains are small. The NPP options give 6 hp, so I'd say that would be the max. The Corsa Sport exaust has no packing in it. It almost straight through. Two seperate chambers in each muffler supposedly inverts the sound in one track to cancel drone. It worked in my car and others say the same. So 2-4-6 that'd be it. CAI are worh 10 + or - a few, and a basic tune 5 or so. However you want to add it up, 20 would be the gain for those mods. A dyno tune over a basic might add another 5.

The exhaust mods will most likely net you nothing but a pleasant note. From what I've heard from tuners is the cat back is in the range of 4 -5 HP, devoid of a tune. Expecting 35+ RWHP from a CAI without a tune if exceedingly optimistic! To get an additional 40 RWHP will take some intake and exhaust work if you’re leaving the engine stock. Good Luck!!

Long tube headers, CAI and a tune will give you 40 hp.
