Have you ported your intake manifold? An inexpensive check can be made with a can of break or carburetor cleaner. Spraying the mating surfaces, and the injector ports, with either will yield a surge in engine speed if there's a leak. Simply re-torquing the bolts may not be the solution. A nick on an edge of a mating surface or removing to much material near the injector are common errors that cause a lot of misdiagnosis's.
What were you doing when it happened? Just cruising? What MPH, RPM, gear???
This happened again to me a few days ago. I was doing a test pass without my air filter. The intake sucked up something and caused the car to go crazy. I turned it off and started it back up. Runs fine.
There's a couple of things that'll cause this issue.

I was parked...hit the brake to pull off...it shut down... restarted pulled off...made it about a mile hit the brake...shut off again...etc....drove to the nearest dealer and dropped it off...
I'm still waiting for the dealer to call...I just have bolt-ons...I haven't touched the motor in awhile...
Someone told me that emissions stuff (ECU, O2s, cats, etc) are covered under a seperate 10yr warranty. I wonder if this is true. If so, i'd like mine checked out but I think the tune in my car will void it. My car is an 05 so it's way out of warranty.
Bad ECM. Bad rear O2 sensors. They want to hook up some machine to the intake and clean the MAF and the carbon in the engine...
ECM and O2's are covered under waranty...the cleaning is not.
The MAF should be cleaned by hand. It's very fragile, and needs to be handled with care. Other than that, what they're talking about is an "induction service" and if the price is reasonable, you should likely have it done, if you have any amount of miles on it. I routinely do induction services on higher mileage cars. It gets rid of the oil in the intake, and carbon build up on the intake valves and piston crowns. I've seen it remove knock retard, and actually make power due to that.

Is $230 reasonable? I have an 05 with 37K on it...I have a new FAST 102 I 'm putting on soon.....

sounds like we have similar cars....I extended my waranty to 6 years....I'll report back when I'm driving the car....
Thay're keeping it one more day for the roof recall...

What's the difference in the induction cleaning and using sea foam or auto rx?
What's the difference in the induction cleaning and using sea foam or auto rx?
The only real difference is tha apparatus used. We use a pressurized canister and a spray nozzle that atomizes it as it comes out. It's alot better than just sucking it in with the brake booster hose. It disperses much better.
